The way that a mechanic will narrow it down is to use a mechanics stethoscope. You can get one pretty cheaply at an auto parts store. Put the metal end of the scope on a part of the engine and listen for noise. On the other hand, if your car is idling at 5000 rpm, it would also be making ALOT of noise.
Desired behavior: AC on request from HVAC controls -> MS sees this, increases idle duty -> MS engages AC compressor after idle up delay What you get with an E30: AC button pressed, compressor engages -> ECU sees this, increases idle duty This works fine in my application, using pin 40 on the engine harness wired to a spare input on my non-PNP MS2.
The manual calls for setting the idle speed with the A/C off. No, the car should not stall when you turn on the A/C. When you have a vintage car, you need to make allowances. I set the slow idle so that the engine runs smoothly, even with the A/C on. It's probably about 50-100 rpm above spec, but so what.
Hook the vacuum meter to one of the vacuum ports on the intake, or the carburetor. Take turns with each idle mixture screw. Turn each screw out a bit for a start (maybe 1 turn). Turn each screw in 1/4 of a turn and wait for a second for the vacuum meter to catch up. Do this until you get the smoothest idle and the vacuum meter stays steady.
This How To video shows you how to install a pneumatic Airline-style Throttle/Idle Control Valve on your gas-powered air compressor. This is a very common st
1,121. Reaction score. 626. I checked idle, right at 750-800 per the factory tac with no AC, and it dips to 5-600 with AC on. When the compressor kicks on, it will catch it if you're not turning or moving. So, with that in mind, I set about redoing the idle. I found an article over on the corral that was '94-95 specific.
Here are answers to questions about the a/c system: (1) pressure readings are 260 on the high side 30 on low side. (2)compressor pulley is only slightly larger than OEM. (3) i have tried changing the idle settings etc. (rpm' s drop by about 500 when a/c is on at idle. Reply Quote.
